WHAT'S A #VERYYOU MOMENT?

When I’m with my mom. She’s so much like me that even our mannerisms mimic each other. I feel so much more comfortable with her than with anyone else.

WHAT DOES BEAUTY MEAN TO YOU?

Being comfortable with yourself, not necessarily what you look like. When a person has a powerful way of speaking and can be strong, it’s beautiful.

WHAT IS THE MOST PRESSING ISSUE FOR WOMEN? WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SEE CHANGED?

Freedom, whether it’s with your sexuality or your body. We’re powerful creatures and know what we want. Women should be able to do what they want with their body whether that’s embracing yourself as you are or getting an abortion.

WHEN IT COMES TO INCLUSION, DO YOU THINK BEAUTY IS HITTING THE MARK?

I think the industry is making progress which is great. Now, there are brands like Fenty that have multiple shades. It’s hard because some black women need to go to the store and mix shades whereas, someone else can just get their shade initially.

WHAT’S THE BIGGEST RISK YOU’VE EVER TAKEN?

I gave up my job, apartment and everything to go to South Africa to model. I didn’t know if it would work out at the time. A lot of people questioned me, but I didn’t listen to everyone else and just told myself I could do it. I’m happy I took the risk.
